Jessica A | When will I get my tax rebate if I used Turbo Tax online to file my tax return? |
I used turbo tax online to file my taxes and chose to direct deposit, but the deposit went to Santa Clara Bank then to my account......when sould I expect my rebate? Additional Details My social ends in 02, so I was expecting it today, May 2nd, but it has not been deposited yet. |

When the IRS deposited your refund, they deposited into the Santa Clara Bank as you noted, then that bank transferred it to your bank account, after deducting any applicable fees. That means the IRS has the Santa Clara Bank's info, not yours, so you won't get your rebate via direct deposit. You'll get a paper check mailed to you.
That information is right on TurboTax's website.
Depending on the last two digits of your SSN, here's the schedule;
Last two SSN digits: Payments will be mailed no later than:
00 through 09 - May 16
10 through 18 - May 23
19 through 25 - May 30
26 through 38 - June 6
39 through 51 - June 13
52 through 63 - June 20
64 through 75 - June 27
76 through 87 - July 4
88 through 99 - July 11 |

This is from turbo taxes web site:
What if I paid to file my 2007 taxes with my refund money using Santa Barbara Bank & Trust?
Even if you have received or will receive your tax refund by direct deposit to your bank account, the IRS will not do the same for your tax rebate in this instance. It will mail your rebate instead.
In its preparations for issuing rebates, the IRS decided that taxpayers who entered into financial transactions with third parties, such as Santa Barbara Bank & Trust (the taxpayer and TurboTax being the first two parties), would receive their rebates by mail.
This applies only to TurboTax customers who used the "refund transfer" or RT service when filing their 2007 tax returns. The service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, under an agreement with the bank. This allows customers to pay using their refunds, rather than credit cards.
This IRS decision also applies to taxpayers who used "refund anticipation loans" or RALs (loans made to tax filers against their expected refunds) on their 2007 returns. TurboTax does not offer RALs. |

One thing to consider may be how you used Turbo Tax...
If you bought the software and loaded it onto your own computer, and got a direct deposit refund, then it seems like your rebate should go directly to your bank account. On the other hand, if you used their website, and processed your return through them, then you will get a rebate check.
Another thing to consider is how the refund and fee were dealt with - On our tax prep software we can designate up to three different accounts that we want the refund sent to.
I'll bet if you owed Turbo Tax a $150 fee and were expecting a $1000 refund there are two ways they could handle it.
If they put the $1000 refund in their account and then transfered the $850 to your account, the IRS will send you a rebate check.
If they put on one line that $850 should go to your bank account and $150 should go to their account, it may be that the IRS will send you the rebate direct deposit. |

That's the question of the day. Some people say they have theirs and they had the fee deducted from their refund. Others, including the SBBT, IRS and TurboTax sites say you will get a check. Don't think there is a way to know for sure. Just keep checking, and HOPE!!! |

Ok… My situation was a little bit different. Ill explain the best I can!! I owed prior year taxes ($2,427) Dont ask why… I was on a payment plan with the IRS. This year I was lucky enough to be getting a refund($2,235) and not owe (due to national guard calling me and deplying) so… being the little scammer I am, I decided to choose the “pay your fees from your refund” option on TurboTax! I figured what the hell… they will file it for me and the IRS will just keep the refund and apply it to my balance. Well they did keep it and apply it to my balance and at that point I owed them $245 I guess a little interest was added. Im sure it pissed SBBT off. Well anyhow, Friday May 2nd I recieved $1,555 direct deposited from the IRS. So I am guessing that since they didnt send SBBT my “refund” it canceled them out. Who knows… |

I just spoke to an IRS rep who said that anybody who filed with turbo tax and did direct deposit (no matter how you paid the fees) will be getting a paper check! I really hope she is wrong. We filed with turbo tax and I did not have the fees taken out of the refund, but I did not get the stimullus payment as scheduled. I am not sure what is up! |

The real question seems to be if the IRS recognises lines 74a,b,c & d on page 2 of the 1040 form. Cause on my return filed through TurboTax (fees deducted by SBBT) the routing number and account number to my current actual bank account are there in Black and White. I personally contacted SBBT via a phone number found on the contacts page of their main site. Their Rep. told me that the IRS indeed has the correct number and I should receive my stimulus check Direct Deposit. Looking at the tax return that was accepted by the IRS, I wonder why there is so much confusion over this. The IRS has the correct routing and account number for my bank but can't figure out where to deposit the funds. Curiouser and Curiouser! :) |
