For federal income taxes, see the link below, and look at page 36 for the percentages. For social security, you'll be taxes at 7.65% until your wages total $94,200 (2006 figure). Above that level, you only pay 1.45%.
For state taxes, it would depend on your state. Find your state's web site and look for tax withholding rates or employer tax information. |

You can get information from your employors payroll devision or go to the IRS to get it. It is not difficult to come by.
Hope this helps a litle, good luck! ;-) |

You should receive a paycheck "stub", if not you need to ask your employer because they have to give you this information by law. |

If you don't see it on your paycheck or paystub, contact the Human Resources person or the person who cuts the checks. They must give you those figures by law. |

Try your check stub. It has to be on there by law. |

Depends on which state you live in. I live in Florida and the rule is that 6.2% is deducted from your salary for Social Security and 1.45% is deducted for Medicare. If you live elsewhere you can contact your Human Resource Department or your local Social Security office and they will provide you with that information. |

You should get a paystub from your employer that shows all the deductions. |

This information is on your paycheck stub. Look under "FICA" for social security - those two terms are the same. The amount that your employer withholds to send to the IRS is probably labled "FWT" for federal withholding tax. The money that they take from your gross salary amount to pay to the states is probably labeled "SWT" for state withholding tax. You should speak with your HR department and have them explain it to you. If your company is small and does not have an HR department, speak with the bookkeeper or at least speak with your immediate boss. There could be other taxes and deductions too, like medical insurance and state disability insurance. Here's a website with some simple information on this:

Good luck. |
