the employer tax ID should be listed on your pay stub, if your employer is a legitimate company that has contracted with a payroll service like ADP.

If you pay stub does not have the tax ID, and your employer is taking out income taxes, and social security taxes, etc., write to the IRS, or visit the IRS web site, as well as the state tax agency (in California, this is the Franchise Tax Board), and request your employers tax ID number.

You want the EIN finder not the trust finder.

It will be on your W-2 - the employer isn't required to put it on your pay stub.

If you worked the same place last year and have your W-2 from then, it will show there - the number doesn't usually change from year to year.

The HR department should ALWAYS be willing to give it to you...GOod luck searching and hunting...

If you've worked for them for awhile and have an old W-2 form from them it will have their tax ID number on it. 2 numbers, then a dash and 7 more numbers. Example 77-0214323

It's on the W2 when you get it and you need the W2 to file for your refund.
Don't be in such a big hurry.

If you are that desperate for money, then get a pre-file loan. You do not need your employers EIN, but they are very expensive. They can cost $200-$400, which is a lot of money to get your money a few week earlier.

If you are trying to file your return ASAP, you are out of luck. Even if you have your employers EIN, you are not allowed to file without your W-2s in hand.

As was stated in a previous answer, your best bet is to be patient.

sorry, but by law, your employers has until 1/31 to postmark your W-2. They do not have to give out their EIN.
Did you explain your situation and ask them if they would make an exception?
If not, then I really don't know what else you can do.
If you are filing online, you may also need their State Tax ID # as well. Most sites require all of the info.
