It doesn't matter who gets elected. There is no rational reason to continue to cut taxes and increase spending. Either candidate is going to have to face the need for a tax increase, not a decrease. |

Economics 101...you reduce taxes...more people will be taxed...you make more revenue....when taxes are reduced then business owners can grow their business...hire more employees...it works! |

As of now, it is just added to the deficit.
Contrary to what some have said, a tax cut does not increase revenues by more than it costs.
As of now, the Bush tax cuts earlier this decade have only paid for about half of themselves. |

Not if we quit wasting money doing things for people they should be doing for themselves. |

As history clearly shows, whenever tax rates are lowered MORE money flows into the government coffers, because when people can keep and invest and spend more of their own money, the economy grows faster and the tax base grows faster than what the government would have collected at the higher rate.

no, he's got a proven track record of breaking the "government money" syndrome, which is when the government designates approved or specified vendors for purchasing purposes. Budgets of places such as the DoE's research labs could be cut in half if they were sent to shop at competitive suppliers as opposed to shopping through higher priced vendors.
that's just the tip of the iceberg, though. the idea of "government money" (spending 2+ times the amount of money on something or for something than it would cost the average person) is one of the most rampant aspects of federal spending and exists on pretty much every level.
moving on, more mature tax programs with corporations as described on McCains website would yield more tax revenue. dont listen to me though, check it out yourself: http://johnmccain.com
EDIT
Also check out http://www.barackobama.com/taxes/. Obama is planning on giving a very similar tax credit to couples. |

There would be a reduction in spending. The most logical way to cut taxes. Sorry, no more government subsidized cel phones for people who do not wish to work for a living. Well one can only hope that is where it leads. We have been "spreading the wealth" for 75 years and personally I am tired of it. I am working class. |

HOW LONG DO WE HAVE?
This is the most interesting thing I've read in a long time. The sad thing about it, you can see it coming.
I have always heard about this democracy countdown. It is interesting to see it in print. God help us, not that we deserve it.
How Long Do We Have?
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government."
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury."
">From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."
"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years"
"During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty;
4. from liberty to abundance;
5. from abundance to complacency;
6. from complacency to apathy;
7. from apathy to dependence;
8. from dependence back into bondage"
Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..." Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.
If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.
WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE,
ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE |
