Where to file Tax? that is not HR block?
I am just a student, i dont have much a complicated tax returns to file.
However, HR Block said they will charge me $100.00 that is practically about 30% of my tax returns.

I heard people do their tax done at an accountant for about 25-50 dollars. But I am not sure where I can go to get an accountant to do it.

Please give me suggestions...thanks

if you make under $54,000 you can file for free on the irs web site or can do turbo tax online for about $14.95 federal and $24.95 for state returns

Try doing your taxes yourself and save the money. It’s not hard. If your adjusted gross income was $54,000 or less in 2007, you can use Free File to prepare and e-file your taxes online.

Go to the IRS homepage and click on "Use Free File to Prepare Your Taxes".

It's my opinion that the majority of people should never have to pay for a tax preparer or to purchase software. Tax preparers are taking advantage of the common person's fear of what is very simple for most Americans. Links from the IRS.gov website take you to a variety of sites that will walk you step-by-step through the Federal tax forms and allow you to e-file FREE. Certain states allow you to prepare and e-file your returns for FREE, also. As an alternative, VITA tax preparers will assist you in filing returns for FREE.

go to irs free on the net or check to see if there is a VITA site at your library or an AARP tax ptreparatyion-free- at your se4nior center- it's not just for seniors.

What state do you live in?

There are a lot other places where you can file your taxes but the fees will be similar because you are paying to file your tax return and the services. Most offices will file your tax return for free, so you can get your refund quicker. If you feel that you can figure out how to file on your own, you can go to www.irs.gov and file it yourself. This service is available to you for free as long as your income is under $52,000. If you are single and your income is under $8750, you are not required to file by law. But you can file your taxes to get your federal taxes and state taxes refunded. HRblock has a special fee if you are not required to file it will be under $60 :)
Other options to file is to get the forms from the irs website and if you are only reporting your income, you are simple and have no dependents, then you can file 1040EZ and then your state tax return, what ever state that might be.
