Which state do I file state taxes with when I move?
I used to live in Maryland for several years. The company I worked for is located in Maryland and I recieved my W-2 while I was located in maryland. On Feb 2007, I moved to california. The question is: Do I file my taxes with Maryland or California.
You will need to file a Maryland state return for 2006.
Next year you will need to file Maryland and a California state part year resident returns.
Don't forget to keep your receipts for your moving expenses so you can deduct them on next years tax return. Minus any reimbursements of course!

Maryland, because that's the state you earned your money in 2006. For next year, you have to file taxes with both Maryland and California for money earned in both states.

You file your Maryland W-2 with Maryland and your California W-2 with California. You have to file state taxes with the state where the revenue was generated.

Mary land. The state in which you lived in, at the end of the year.

which state did you live in when you earned the income? If you lived in MD when you earned the income, file with them. If you earned the income after you moved to CA, file there. If you earned part of your income in each location, file with both franchise tax boards.

MD for the income you earned while living there, and CA for the income you earn there. You'll file part-year returns for 2007 for both states.
For your 2006 return, you will ONLY file a MD resident return; CA has no claim on your 2006 income.

Yes you do, now you will have to file with both states only for last year.
