Who is entitled to 25% council tax discount?
is a single persons working full time entitled to the 25% rebate

MICHAEL P
If you are the sole adult occupier with no one else over 18 in the property ( they are disregarded for council tax purposes ) then you automatically qualify for a single person discount ( 25% ) whether you are working or not. Any further reliefs must be claimed ( if eligible ) through the council tax benefit system. Please note that the 25% single person discount may need to be claimed ... so you need to tell the council or sign a discount claim form if you are not already getting it!

madamspud169
Yes depending on how much you earn

MISS ******
Yes, you are correct. It is 25% discount for people who live on their own. As with all benefits, no-one will tell you, you have to find out for yourself.

Shirl
Yes u are -- u automatically get the 25% single person discount whatever u earn.

If there is only one earner in the household, like if the wife or husband was a student, then there would be a 25% discount for the house

Yes all single people living alone and paying council tax are entitled to a 25% discount, but you must notify the council. It may be possible to have it back dated if you ask them .

Cassie au Lait
Yes, just ring them up and ask them to send you the forms - you have to be living alone though, if you share with a flatmate or something I don't think you're eligible. I think you have to be the only adult in the household.
