I want to know why I have to pay high taxes because the government is giving it to some irresponsible person that claims they can't get a job and need welfare for the 3 kids they have. I'm a full time student and work full time and about to get a second job to make ends meet as well as living on a tight budget and still paying on student loans. I can't afford to live and pay for school but, I have to give away 40% of my money to someone that can stay home and do nothing all day and pop out kids. I can't even afford to have a family or get married because we don't have a responsible savings to have kids. What kind of crap is that!? How can I save more on my taxes? Should I just quite my jobs and be a full time student and find a way to live off the tax payers hard earned money? Welcome to the adult world. I can't afford the things you speak of either and I've been working for 36 years. I have a disabled friend I take to the emergency room and we will sit there for 8-1/2 hours on hard plastic chairs (after I put in a 10-hour workday) while illegals get free medical care and tie up the system. There have been many times when I will put in a 10-hour workday, stay up all night at the ER, and get home in time to hear my morning alarm go off and have to get ready for another 10-hour workday, all without sleep. And all because their kids have the sniffles! The reason they use the ER? On the walls of the hospital are large signs saying "We must treat you regardless of your ability to pay or whether or not you are a citizen." A regular doctor would make them PAY! So instead they sponge off the American taxpayers getting free welfare, free medical, free education, free dental, and subsidized housing all the while breeding like maggots. My disabled friend? Still waiting for SSI, although he has worked and put into the system for years. And still living in poverty, unable to afford the little medicine prescribed for him by doctors - his friends have to pay for it. And we are working Americans who have already paid into the tax system, so in effect we are paying twice. Then of course there are those stupid people who can't even afford to pay for themselves - so they go out and breed more taxpayer draining sponges. It's not the children's fault - it's the fault of the adults! It all boils down to one thing: If you can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em!" |

I agree, whats sad is you have little kids with working parents who dont get medical/therapy services because of no insurance. BUT you can have a mother who does nothing but stay drug up and keeps having babies by criminals being supported with a house, money, food, medical needs and even in some places transportation. |

utility companies here actually charge a fee to help those who can't pay a phone bill, and it is required to be paid. They don't think twice about cutting off your utilities if you're late. It's a crock. It's the American Way! I love paying taxes when you make a MAJOR purchase (house, car), and then have to pay property tax on it every year that you own it. It is ridiculous! Taxes dont only go to people on welfare. They go to the school systems, pave roads, keep up the community, pay law enforcement, etc etc and welfare does help those who need it and are doing the responsible thing. I say lets crack down on those who take advantage of the welfare system rather than boycott paying taxes. |

Yeah welcome to my world. I was raised to work hard and you will succeed. Now it seems like you work hard to provide for those that don't want to work and you struggle. There is plenty of aid out there for drug addicts on disability and people who work the system so they don't have to work. But if you are a honest, hard working person you will struggle, do without and work hard til the day you die. Then they would like to tax you on that. Funny how we have no money for healthcare for those without but we have plenty of money to go to other countries and kill off their people. I don't understand how we can all survive out here with our measly paychecks after taxes and our government can't manage billions of dollars. Bottom line - their paychecks. |

Nice rant. Why not have 10% across the board taxes instead? With no loop holes, have senators and congressmen pay taxes too. Have huge corporations that get tax breaks pay those who they lay off and move to some other country that just pays $2 per day instead of real wages. Get on your feet America, you're being sold!
The president should not get paid at all, they're all millionaires who bought their way in to begin with. |

Now, now, now. This is the kind of government spending and social system that your college professors think we should have, isn't it? Don't they support those who favor generous social programs to help the "poor"? Take the money away from those awful rich people (and single starving students!) and give it to those who truly need it?
You should take advantage of the student loan programs and then fail to pay them back when you obtain your first job after college. Just like your liberal classmates will do.
And guess what? IF the democrats win the White House, there will be NOTHING in the way of them cancelling Bush's taxcuts, INCREASING government spending on social programs for the poor, GOVERNMENT controlled health-care and education, giving more social security to ILLEGAL immigrants along with free medical and education.

A very small percentage of the money you pay in taxes goes to the social programs you explain. Tax money goes to thousands of programs and projects including transportation, defense and administration.
If you are in danger of having your electricity turned off you should contact the electric company and see if they can help you out. Programs like the ones you explain are to often abused but they exist for a reason. To help folks like yourself in hard times so you can be a more productive citizen.

yeah i know the feeling. i was living on £30 a week when i was in college as my wage mostly went on rent. 40% is huge, you will probibly get taxed more for a second job, find the one with the most hours, take out a STUDENT loan. i had no choice i had to work or quit college and go on the benefits, and i didnt wanna do that. i managed to finish college with the skin of my teeth literally |

I go to Mexico every year on a mission trip with my church and see dirt roads, shabby schools, houses made of old American two car garage doors, farm workers earning $7 a day in the better off parts of the country and children who drop out of school early because their families can't afford bus fare. But there is good news: The taxes are really low. The United States has the lowest tax burden of any western industrialized nation and all things considered, I think I can live with it. |
