Sounds like you need to have a talk with your parents about it. If you truly are completely financially independent, then maybe they should be presenting you with the $300 they will be getting for you as a dependent. Just saying...

Your parents get your rebate. Talk to them. And if you are independant then your parents broke the law by claiming you.

If they can claim you as a dependent, you aren't financially independent. And dependents aren't eligible. That's how the law was written - complain to your congressman and senator.

Were you mad at Oprah too when you didn't get a car when she gave them away to the people in her audience that day? OK, you didn't meet the rules for getting one since you weren't there, but other than that, why didn't you?

Unfortunately that is the rules for the rebate. Your parents should get a rebate for claiming you.

You can't get the rebate of $300-$600 because your parents claimed you as a dependent.
Your parents will NOT get the $300 child credit because you are not under 17.

If you want a refund your parents will have to stop filing you as a dependent. Ive received refunds since I was 15 so you should be able to at 19.

mhowie01
Did they claim you? If they did, you don't get anything. (I know how that is ... I got screwed like that on the last round of rebates.)

Ask George Bush. He's the one who doles out billions free to people so he looks good in office. If you 19, you should know that these free handouts by Bush amount to him placing us billions of dollars further into national debt. And if your 19 now, you'll be the ones paying that debt back in an ailing economy till you retire--at which time you will have no money because there will be no pensions or social security. Good luck to the younger generation. Your being had by this Republican administration. Nothing comes for free. Including the tax stimulus bill.
