Diamond C. | Why do I have to pay taxes on a house or a land that I owned? It is ridiculous and unfair!? |
If I own a house then every year I have to pay $3,000 or $4,000 in taxes sometimes more (depend on the house value) then it's the government's house not mine. Why do I have to pay taxes on a house that I just live in? I don't make money from it! Same thing for a land. The Big Bosses have tax relief in almost everything than people like me have to pay taxes on everything! Don't you think it's unfair? |

How do you think the roads get paid for? Or your sewer system? Or the water that comes out of your shower every morning? Or the police? Or the schools?
You may not agree with everything the government does with your money - but without taxes, you would live on a dirt road, have an outhouse for a bathroom, have to prime the pump to get water to shave, tote your own gun for protection and gather with your neighbors to figure out who is going to teach your children. |

your local government has got to make money someway to provide you services that you EXEPECT! What would happen if the snow isn't removed, or someone doesn't come by to clean up after a storm, or pave your roads, fill in the pot holes, put a fire out in your house, or help you if you need police? |

1) You seem to have some misconceptions about taxes.
2) You seem to have some misconceptions about tax relief.
3) Fair doesn't enter into the discussion. Property taxes are supposed to pay for things such as schools, sidewalks, and various community services.
If you don't like property taxes, get them repealed. They are state and local laws, not national/federal. But, you will have to ask yourself how your local and state governments are going to make up for the lost revenue.
They can cut services or make a direct tax, such as an income tax. |

property taxes pay for lots of things n your town and school district, like teachers salaries, snow removal, road repair, police protection, among others - that's why! - how else do you propose to pay for those services? It's either higher income taxes or property taxes - even if you rent, not own, you are indirectly paying these taxes, because the property owner renting to you includes them in his costs to come up with the rent amount |

I agree with most of the other people. You don't seem to have a very good understanding of what those taxes are for. Have you ever actually looked at your tax bill to see what that $3,000 or $4,000 amount is for? Your street lights, stop signs, roads, etc... are all being paid for with that money. What do you mean it's the government's house? YOU are the one living there and driving on those roads, etc.... so that's why you have to pay for them.

You have to pay it because that's the law.
The "big bosses" probably have bigger, more expensive houses than yours - if so they're paying more in property tax. |

I think you're confusing two kinds of taxes imposed by two different types of government.
There are income taxes imposed by both federal and state governments. These taxes are imposed on income--net gain minus deductions. These taxes pay for things that states and the federal government buy, like the military and interstate highways.
Property taxes like you pay on your house are typically imposed by local governments--cities, counties, and towns. They pay for local things, like local roads, parks, and schools. Property taxes are measured by the value of the property you own, not the amount of income you receive.
I'm not saying either kind of tax is always a good thing. Maybe you should be paying less. But I don't think the "big bosses"--really rich people or corporations, if that's what you mean--are exempt from property taxes. In fact, property taxes are probably a bigger burden on rich people than on wage earners. Really rich people are more likely to live off money they already have (assets) and not off of income from wages.
A person with a $10 million house and lots of money in the bank could pay no income tax except on any interest earned on the cash. But that same person would owe huge property taxes because of the high value of the house. Why is that unfair to people who have less, like you? |

You can thank the Democrats and their failed education system for that.
Also, low wage earners pay much less than high wage earners. People who tell you otherwise are talking out of the wrong hole. |
