Why do the government pay them selves to much money???
Plus they get expences which are more than what the average persons wage is , While those on that avrage wage can barely afford to make ends meet. and tax us a third of our wages and then council tax car tax high fuel taxes very high cigerette taxes national insurance they end up with about 80% of peoples income.

Each MP has on average 60,000 people in their constituency. They need an office to run the constituency, this costs money, or expenses. An MP earns far less than a lot of Managers and fat cats and footballers etc etc etc, who don't have 60,000 people to answer to.

We are not taxed a 1/3 of our wages, it isn't even a quarter. Added to this any tax from the things you mentioned, and unless you smoke 5000 fags a day and drive about 1000 miles a day, your figure of 80% is about as realistic as the Tory policies they havnt yet decided on. Mick

Because they are what's seen as the white collar plastic gangsters, they can rip us off 24/7 and get away with it, the British public who voted in the very cretin who do not give a toss about the 60 million people in this country...

Because they are legal Gangsters! look at Ken!!

alex_marshall21
because they're self-centred pieces of work and they actually don't care about their country. It's a power thing.

the sad answer is not because they can but that they actually think they deserve it

They do all these things bcause us the people keep voting them in, we are the mugs putting up with a system that is designed to rob us blind. The system will have to be changed before the common people get a fair deal.

Now you understand , why we all pay so much tax one way or another , It is to keep all the government workers in the life style , that they exspect

Well I dont think they get paid too much. I agree they get a good wage and lots of perks. But their jo is hard, long hours, constantly being followed, everything they do being looked into. John Terry I read earnt about 15 times more money than Tony Blair last year. Who has the hardest job, who has the more important job?

Wages are never fair. Nurses, doctors save lives and dont get pay they deserve compared to sports stars.

I read that Maggie Thatcher used to get about 3 hours sleep very often due to the workload she had. I am sure if you worked 20 hours a day your wage would increase.

Its more a case of the way the country is run, the immigrants, the illegals etc that we dont get what we deserve always. The government are not overpaid in reality.

Just my opinion.

it is a falicy that they get high wages, however before anyone starts shouting the real scandal is their expense accounts, ever wonder why ipods appear on political expense accounts just before christmas. i think all politicians expense account should be made public at the end of each financial year, why does a politician have to have a buffet at the cost of £200 per head and drink champagne at a function, how much stationary did Tony Blair say he needed last year how many rubbers does one office need and a toilet seat that cost £300.00, ive never seen a £300.00 toilet seat

You live in a free country. You have the right and the ability to change it if you don't like it! You can join the government if you want (and get all those things you seem to believe are there), or work to change what you don't like, instead of just complaining.

You also have the freedom to move!

I'm going to take a wild gues here that you are English; the English (generally) would much rather complain about things they don't like than actually do anything about them!

I hate to generalize, but it's a nation of 65+ million people who still have gravity-flush toilets based on water-tanks in their attics, a model adopted when they thought NAPOLEON was coming (in case he interupted the water supply), and they STILL haven't fixed it! "Oh, it's okay, I'll just flush twice..." LOL!

Let me ask you a question, if you could pay yourself would you give yourslef alot of money or stop ripping people off and be poor?
