Why do very few employers opt to pay weekly?
Consider yourself fortunate and lucky if you get a job that pays weekly.most employers opt to pay every two weeks and all that stuff about paying weekly is becoming less common at least in the U.S.

Processing payroll costs money. The more often a company issues payroll checks, the more expensive it is to do the payroll.

Why does it matter when you get paid? Yes, you have to do a more budgeting if you get paid biweekly. But you are still earning the same amount of money.

The reason that companies pay bi-weekly (26x a year) or semi-monthly (24x a year) is it saves the company TONS of money. Each check (just the actual check) can cost up to $1 a piece - they have lots of security features embedded in them including special ink so that they can't be run through an oridinary laser printer (reduces fraud/stolen checks).

Then if you work for a company with 1000+ employees, it takes almost a week to create the paycheck by the payroll staff (confirm hours with supervisors, process changes and special pays, check accruacy of checks, etc). So if you get paid weekly, that is ALL the person can do is create paychecks and that's not all that's involved in processing payroll. You need to reconcile checks, send dead checks to the government, reconcile and pay taxes, audit internal payroll/garnishment/deduction acounts, etc. If you pay weekly, you are going to need to hire another individual to perform this work.
