Why does Obama want to raise my taxes?
I'm not rich and I don't make a whole lot of money. I work very hard for the money I earn, and it's hard enough to save having to pay income tax, gas tax, car tax, death tax, sales tax, utility tax, telephone tax, etc, etc.

Now Obama wants to raise my taxes. WHY??

He's a Democrap. That's what they do, they raise taxes. I promise you, if either one of the democraps get in office, they will IMMEDIATELY, if not before, raise taxes! They will raise them every chance they get. It's called being a liberal democrap.

Because the government keep getting bigger and bigger, and they need to money. Do not all blame the president, you are forgetting the legislator's, they make the bills to do this.

You have not been paying close attention to what Senator Obama has been saying. More than likely you've been listening to right-wing talk radio and ASSUMED that those clowns were speaking the truth.

Senator Obama's position on taxes is QUITE clear if you actually listen to what HE is saying. He proposes allowing the tax cuts of the Bush administration -- that were almost EXCLUSIVELY targeted at the wealthy -- and replace them with meaningful tax cuts for the middle class.

If you're wealthy, watch out if the Democrats win this November. You WILL pay higher taxes. But if you are as you say -- working hard and not making a lot of money as it is -- you will be in for a very PLEASANT surprise if either of the Democratic candidates win the Presidency.

If you want to know what the candidates' positions are, listen to the words of the candidates themselves, NOT what the opposition twists! The right-wing talk radio hacks (Rush, Levin, etc.) are correct on tax increases for the WEALTHY but they spin it to look like EVERYONE will pay higher taxes under a Democratic administration and that is NOT the position of either Senator Obama or Senator Clinton.

Finally, if you are a typical American of modest means, you'll never pay a "death tax." Currently that only applies to estates valued at over $2 million. Even if they're allowed to return to the pre-Bush era exclusion (that's what the Bush administration gave you by the way) your estate would still have to be worth more than $1 million in 2011 for any estate tax to be payable.

The "borrow and spend" tactics of the inept Bush administration have tripled the national deficit from $3 trillion (and falling by the way, when he took office!) to about $9 trillion! Even if you factor out the Iraq war and Katrina, there's still $4 TRILLION that is unaccounted for. Without tax increases SOMEWHERE, how do you propose that we pay that off? Just be thankful that you're part of the Middle Class. If you are a Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, or Steve Forbes, get ready for a MAJOR tax hit next year.

So he can support some man who is living with a woman on welfare and having more babies to support also ...and so that the government can pay higher wages to the president and the other officials...and so that they can do away with the middle class and only make the rich richer and the middle class poor. And they might even use some of it on renting places for dead beat dads to live with the woman i mentioned above too. Then we can't forget the prisoner they need on line computers and TVs and volley ball games and free medical and dental work done while in there too. Hope this helps because that is just how it is ...if they wanted to put it to good use they would find those dead beat dads and mothers who have more than one child on welfare and they would fix there baby making abilities for life and stop this career they are making of it and put them to work instead of paying them to be lazy or paying court fees for them to keep going back to court for no reason then and then maybe they would be more careful with whom they have their only children with and maybe they would take care of them more since that is all they will ever have and it might also stop some unwanted children in home that abuse them or given up for the government to support or fund adoption programs for.

ALL candidates(or future presidents) have to raise taxes or take something away from the public to push money towards BETTER plans & a better cause that will make America better.

I know it looks wrong when someone takes money from you & don't tell you what it's for. But he (or she) is not taking money away for nothing.

They have to put the money towards SOMETHING....they just don't throw money into the ocean ya know.....

Older and Wiser
If you make under $200,000, he won't.

If you make more than that, than you just lied to us.

Many of us can't even afford to feed our kids, let alone save! We're the ones who need help, not Iraq!

Because that is what liberals do. They have to have a lot of money in order to throw it around, which buys popularity and gets them re-elected.

FYI, you have had three tax cuts during the Bush Jr two term administration and none during the liberal Mr. Clinton's two terms.

God help us if another liberal gets in again.

If you're not rich, where did Obama, or any politician for that matter, say that your taxes would be raised? Do you have a link to the quote? I would find this surprising.

bull_rooster_aardvark
I haven't really seen anything to this effect, but if he does want to raise them it may have something to do with the multi-trillion dollar debt in this country. Anyhow, he'll do what he has to do, as will McCain and/ or Clinton if they are elected.

halfzeimer
Every time a Republican has said my taxes will be lowered, I end up having less actual dollars to spend than before. Before Bush took office, I was paying $1.35 for gas. now I'm paying $4.00 a gallon. I didn't get a 200% increase in my salary over the same time. So please don't tell me Obama is going to cost me any more than this puke we have ruining the country now.

You need to be asking why did Bush raised your gas prices?

i may be young, and not have taxes, but my best guess is that he's raising taxes because he thinks he has a good reason that nobody else seems to have found, he thinks its best for our counrty

We pay the lowest amount of taxes than pretty much any country in the world. We also have worse health care and schools.. He probably feels that throwing money at a problem fixes it. I'm not too sure that will work for him. But I think the idea of citizens taking responsibility for each other and be able to suffer for now to be able to have a better future is a great idea.
