Too true, my personal feeling is that they should be free - it is disgraceful that women should have to pay for something which they cannot go without. If men had periods you can be damn sure they would be subsidised. |

Maybe they think that taxing these products will encourage women to menstruate less. |

because women have very little power in politics. Its an outrage, it really is, tax is supposed to be on luxury items only. Bloody men. |

Its a disgrace, but they know women have basically no option but to buy them so they can whack the tax as high as they like. |

There isn't any, bit like the rest of the government activity - apparently they are a 'luxury' !!! |

Because the government consists of a bunch of old men.
They dont care about the british citizens. They do what they think is right for themselves.

because its the governments way of introducing taxes that hit as many people as possible, any need or want that society has basic or not is taxed. |

If it moves they tax it , if it stands still they tax it, if it breathes they tax it, when it stops breathing they tax it,if it is necessary they tax it, it is tax from the day you are born and long after you have died , unless of course you are a Politician and then there are lots of tax free perks. |

They do have a twisted vision on things it's like people who are on the sick and need medication to function on a daily basis, they have to pay for there prescriptions !! Yet some one on jobseekers who has nothing wrong with them can get it for free !! It's mind boggling. |

There is no logic whatsoever! All governments have stated that these are 'luxury' goods. Let those same members of governments try getting by without something essential and see how they manage. Would they rather we go back to the dark ages and have to use and wash 'rags' to cope with a perfectly normal, though messy part of our lives?
Oooooh, don't get me started! |

they should be available on the nhs, theyre essentials not luxury, women cant help needeing to use them |

They'll probably want us to all give up menstruating in a minute, because it will be banned in public places. We'll all have to go outside to have a period and the government will supply us with "Menstruation Shelters". |

Ludicrous I know, these should be free |

They aren't very expensive anyway, not really. If you buy shops own brands (like Tesco or ASDA) you can get 32 tampons for around £1.50. That's not too bad is it? And they're sooooooo much better than Tampax (the ones without applicators anyway, those with them are just rubbish)!
But I agree it is wrong to tax them. It's not like us women can choose whether or not we need sanitary protection, is it?? I bet a man put VAT on them. |

As they are considered to be a luxury and not a necessity |

I have to say it......they would tax the air you breath if they thought they could |

Because they want to grab as much as they can, soon you have to pay for double glazing in your house, if you have got one. |

I agree with taxing them. It's a good source of guaranteed income. If women don't want to pay tax on them, they can use a sink plug as a substitute.
The fact is that men pay tax on beer, and men will die without beer, so it's more important than tammies, and we have to pay tax on that.
The day they stop taxing beer is the day I will accept a small reduction in the tax on tamms. |

OK So what do you want to tax?
Where do we find the money to repair and run our creaking health service. It's suffering from 30 years of underinvestment and people are dying as a result. |
