Why doesn't the IRS make strippers pay taxes on their tips?
Why doesn't the IRS make strippers pay taxes on their tips, but cracking down on these poor Dunkin Donuts and other minimum wage employees? Does anybody know?

They are supposed to claim the tips on their taxes, but since its mostly cash its easier to hide because there is no documented paper trail in most cases.

If you were an IRS agent, would you rather get a fee lap dance, or a free donut?.....So many thumbs down, geesh, everyone answering this question must be an upset waiter/waitress, or an IRS agent...

The IRS requrires ALL tipped employees to pay taxes on their tips. Anyone who doesn't is in violation of the law. A lot of strip joints are getting clobbered both by the state employment folks and the IRS for failing to follow the law on pay and taxes.

I know a couple of strippers who are pulling doubles to pay off massive tax debts once they were caught out. I had to break the bad news to them that the IRS levies were correct and they had to pay up. One was hit with a "lifestyle audit" and the other was ratted out by an ex-girlfriend.

Anyone who earns tips is supposed to declare "other" income.
Strippers are self-employed and file taxes quarterly like hairdressers...if they are on the level.
Chances are they are not.

Brad B
Strippers are required to pay the same taxes on tips that any other profession is required to.

Legally tips are taxable, whether you are a server in a restaurant or are a stripper. What makes you think the IRS doesn't collect tax on tips from strippers? I'm sure there are some strippers who don't report all their tips and try to evade taxes on them. I'm equally sure that's done by some servers at Dunkin Donuts.

To many people enjoy the pleasure and teasing strippers do for them.

strippers don't pay taxes on tips? isn't that taxable income or are they just hiding it or something?

Tips are different than waiges.
Your salary decides you tax, so the salary is what your boss pays you and it's put on record.
Stripping is sort a 'under the table' job.
It's purely tips, and tips are put on record.
I am sure the goverment would put taxes on stripping if they could, they are blood-sucking bastards.
But yeah, Strippers do have pay taxes, they have to report their salary, and some lie and say they don't make much salary, so then they pay less tax.
But if the IRS asks why their house costs over what their finances are then the IRS can sue.

Is it really appropriate for some of you to to place negative comments about dancers? Why is it that in every forum that has something to with strippers there is always someone being a narrowminded jerk. "blood sucking bastards"? Everyone knows what the game is. It isnt this big secret. At the risk of sounding incredibly silly. . . strippers are people too. And you may not agree with our life style choices, and you may think the whole thing is stupid ( and I assure you most of the girls I have met agree). No one is forcing you to come in and no one is forcing you to give us money. This is suppose to be a discusion on the proper way to claim taxes in an industry where we are required to pay into the house as a sub or independant contractor, and claim tips. Not a professional bashing. So lets all try to maintain a grown up and albeit open minded approach to this. Just because someone is differant from you, ( believes differantly, lives differantly) doesnt make them wrong or bad people. Honestly we are probably some of the more stronger women in the work place. We deal with drunks, horny managers, drugs, it is hard to maintain a successful relationship outside of the club, and we are always worried about running into some who is potential dangerous outside of work. This is a life style choice. not a job that we can punch out of. Those of us who have made it through this industry unscathed (no drug problems, and finicial success) deserve to be celebrated. Not name called and shunned by people who zero tolerance or compassion for anouther human being. I believe Hitler suffered some of these similar disillusions towards mankind.
