Kv | Why don't people support tax raise on rich people? |
How can they not afford it? It doesn't make sense not to support it. |

simply put,
If you started a business a (restaurant)( any type of business can make $250,000 a year)
and you put all your heart into it and made it grow
and you had your restaurant for many years (decades)
everything is going great!!!!!
maybe for taxes you pay the same amount as everyone else 40%
now pretend that a POLITICIAN tells you ,
"because you work so hard and because you make so much money (by the way this is your money, YOU worked for, not being lazy)
we need you to give more taxes, because there are people who would like to have your money, for nothing.......they just want you to share your money"
now your taxes are 70%-80%
almost double
do you want to give out double taxes just so people who do not have the same " drive" and "determination" as you.......????
if you do,
I can give you my address and you can write me a check every year for a thousand dollars..............thanks! |

It isn't whether they can afford it or not, I don't believe they should be taxed any extra compared... but I do believe we should have a flat rate tax in this country, instead of class systems and all that jazz... everyone should pay a certain percentage no matter what they make. Our justice system is full of too many loopholes for it to work though. The reason that McCain is looking do drop it is because he is looking for it to lower certain other costs. If a company pays less in certain taxes they are likely to lower prices which in turn helps the lower classes as well. Income and Capital gains are two seperate taxes though, remember that. |

Why not raise taxes on rich people? Well, if taxes rise, people figure out how to avoid them. The rich have better resources in accomplishing this task. Then, you find people like Clark Kent, who truly believe that:
“The richer they get, the more they invest in businesses and job creation. They don't just put all their money in a mattress and hoard it.”
IRT, Clark and likeminded people, I don’t know what University Clark attended, if he attended, or when he attended. But, I can tell you that he’s living in the 1980’s.
The truth about the rich is:
“The richer they get, the more they twist their thumbs into your forehead to keep you DOWN.”
Then again, I'm writing from the United States, where many people, who are anything but rich, think that they are...
But, you can't expect people to save if there are no incentives to do so. Therefore, capital gain taxes on folks earning less than XXX dollars per year should be eliminated. |

Do some searching for reaganomics and see how trickle down economy works. |

Because they're dreaming of being rich. . .
Because they don't realize how unfair the current system is. The wealthy who earn most of their income off stocks and bonds, pay a very small tax on capital gains: 10-15%. The working stiff pays 15-33% for their hard-earned wages. Warren Buffet was in a LOWER tax bracket than his secretary even though he's a billionaire. And McCain wants to totally eliminate this already VERY low capital gains tax. Bush lowered it to this and McCain wants to totally eliminate it. No tax for wealthy friends with 7 or is it 8 houses and huge stock portfolios! |

cause rich people employ the lower and middle class people. no rich people = no jobs |

Because it takes away the incentive for people to do well. When you penalize someone for doing well, nobody else will want to do anything more than the bare minimum. This country was not created by people doing the bare minimum.
A wise man once said:
"Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built."
(Abraham Lincoln).

We should encourage people to get rich, not punish them for achieving it.
If they are in the 35% bracket and they get richer then 35% of all that increase means a raise for Uncle Sam too. Why should Uncle Sam get 40% or 50%?
Just because they may be able to afford it does not make confiscation of their earnings OK.
The richer they get, the more they invest in businesses and job creation. They don't just put all their money in a mattress and hoard it. |
