I'm afraid previous answers are mostly speculation. Usually monthly paid people get 1/12 of their salary each month, irrespective of the number of days. Whether or not you are married won't affect the situation. You don't say how much the difference is. Can you edit on this, and your tax code used? This may give me some ideas.
If the amount is relatively small, to within a £ or two, it is because the tax tables used for calculation don't use odd pennies, so monthly deductions do vary slightly, even though the gross salary and code number are the same.
If you want to check your payslips, Google PAYE deductions UK. There are several websites that will come up, provided by accountants, where you can imput you payslip information, and check your deductions. Just choose which one you want to use. |

It's simply because the tax tables work on the accumulated totals, thus your tax each time is worked out on the TOTAL earned to date LESS the amount you have already paid previously. THAT is why it's a bit different each time ! ! ! |

You usually fall into certain tax brackets. The more you earn the more they take away from you. If you get paid salary and get the same amount on your paycheck every week, then your taxes should be the same. If there's a problem then you have to call your human resource department and have them explain it to you. |

Letting It Stand
|
Depends on the hours you have worked and rate of pay. Some months are longer than others (February 28 days, November 30 days, July 31 days) and you have worked more hours that work.
If you receive bonuses this will change the amount you have to pay. As will being off ill for statutory sick pay.
But don't confuse tax and National Insurance.
The amount you pay is deducted at different rates between the two direct debited taxes.
See the firm's accountant and they will explain to you how things are calculated. All the calculations are on the Inland Revenue website which explains everything. |

Have you asked your pay staff? |

Are the differences significant amounts? Do you get other taxable things like overtime? Does it reflect the fact that months have different numbers of days and most systems try and apportion the tax as accurately as possible (eg 28, 29, 31 or 30 /365, rather than 1/12 tax liability in each month) |

maybe the number of hours or work days in a month? if you only get paid once per month, each month has a different number of work days - could vary from 20 to 23 |

are you single or married , that depends on that ,you need to check with your tax office tell them the problems, also if you are doing lots of overtime than you are going too pay more tax, But you really need to ask at your work and get them to give you your tax office number and the address and you can write to them with your problems, and if you have been paying more than hopefully you should get some money back.
hope this helps , you will get a new tax code in few months , if you have the old tax the one you are paying your tax try to find the original letter and call the tax office. |
