If you should choose to have children some day, you will understand why. If you don't have children, you can't possibly know how expensive it is. They want us to boost the economy by spending this money...and if you have kids, you are definitely going to be spending this money. |

In America, law and common sense are mutually exclusive. Law is always the result of a political process hich means "give and take" among and between lawmakers, the House, Senate & the President.
Often there is a goal to give a specified amount to "somebody" and the "who" and the "how much to each" is a matter of things like demographics, the overall effect of the money on the economy based on to whom it is given, what interest groups a given representative or party wants to favor and does it meet the politician's intent.
As Boston pointed out, while the House and the Pres are in agreement on the House version the Senate has not yet weighed in. The final version could have no resemblance to the current versiion or the Pres might veto it altogether if it does not meet his desired intent.
The bottom line is that this is not a moral issue but a political one, which ALWAYS defies any sense other than "polical" sense. |

Because kids costs. Just because you aren't fortunate enough to have kids don't hate on those who did chose to have kids. Take your $600 and be grateful for that. It is free money, why cant you just be thankful for that instead of complaining. |

Why? Because children are the key to our future. People who have more children should be rewarded. We have a serious population shortage in this country. Who is going to take care of all of these baby boomers 20 years from now? With the way our society views immigrants (legal and illegal) and foreigners from northern Africa, Asia and the Middle East, we need every incentive for US citizens to continue having kids. The myth of teenage American girls having 3 or 4 kids running around while they are already pregnant is a myth. Odds are the younger your generation, the less kids you will have - atleast currently in the USA. So, I say those with kids should get the largest rebate. Especially since their kids are going to be the ones shouldering this rebate and all of the rebates that doubled the national debt in the last 10 years. |
