You will only get $300.
I actually paid at least $600 in taxes, so I'll get the $600. Your tax bill would be about $125 which is less than the $300, so you only get $300.
(If your 2008 income is higher, you'll get a second chance at the other $300.) |

If your 2007 tax return showed at least $3000 income, then you'll get at least $300. You won't get $600 unless your net federal income tax for 2007 was at least $600, and yours is probably more like $125 if you are not a dependent, and that would qualify you to get $300 but not $600. If you are a dependent, you wouldn't be eligible for a stimulus payment. |

here is what they say--------Are you eligible? The vast majority of people who file a 2007 income tax return qualify, and many who don't regularly file a tax return may qualify as well. You're eligible if you have a valid Social Security Number (SSN), can't be claimed as a dependent on a tax return and have either an income tax liability or "qualifying income" of at least $3,000. Qualifying income includes any combination of earned income and certain benefits from Social Security, Veterans Affairs or Railroad Retirement. Additional information is below, and a full legal description is available in Revenue Procedure 2008-21. |

Yes. If you filed your 2007 taxes and had an earned income of more the 3k, you should.
Although, that lovely letter they sent out wasn't very helpful in explaining things. |

You will get a stimulus payment of at least $300.
If the tax liability on your tax return (the amount of tax calculated before subtracting credits and amounts withheld) is greater than $300, you will get that exact amount up to a maximum of $600. |
