I am in the process of getting a divorce and my husband left a year ago so I was able to file as head of household for the tax year 2007... my question is does this qualify me to recieve the tax rebate or is it based off of 2006 when we filed jointly... he's a tool and if it is based off of 2006 i am sure he would not give me or my daughter our share... Thank you

It doesn't matter, you will get your rebate even if it comes to your soon to be ex, it will come in both your names, and he will have to get your signature in order to cash it. If you are concerned that he will forge your name, then call the IRS department in you area and share your concerns. Good Luck

It is based of off 2007...2006 does not matter at all for purposes of figuring the rebate. You should get your $600 and if your daughter was claimed as your dependent in 2007 then you will also get the $300 for her. Your ex filed separately so he would just get his $600.

Your friendly IRS office can help you with that question. It is my understanding as a divorced mom that you might qualify if you divorced or served him with the papers by a certain date, but I am not sure what it is. I believe if your husband deserted you, you have the right to the full refund. Again, you really need to talk to the IRS. Go to the government section of the phone directory for your area and look up Internal Revenue.

the rebate check is based of your 2007 taxes...the ones you just filed!

You should get one as long as you filed your taxes for 2007 this year. Good luck and spend it wisely with the price of everything going up

i'm pretty sure as you HOH that you should bring in ur own rebate. Because i believe it's by law that the HOH files and recives the money. You should get it i'm about 80% positive you will.

it is based off of 2007. they will go by whatever you filed for the year 2007. you should get $600.00 for yourself and $300.00 for your daughter so a total of $900.00 if everything goes as planned, and you dont have extenuating circumstances. good luck.

Heatherrrrrrrr
However you filed in 2007 is what is considered.

its based on 2007 not 2006

you should get a rebate out of the information you gave me.

Are you talking about the tax stimulis check? Just keep in mind that is different then a tax rebate check.

The stimilus checks are based off of your 2007 taxes.

if you make under 30,000 a year, if you do and have custody, u get 300 per child, 600 by yourself, 900 to 1200 for couples and its for 2007 tax return not o6, but hey call the IRS and just ask ,tell them your separated and what do u do OK, the call is free , but u should get something but are you living in the same place u did last year ? if not your x may get a check but it will have both your names on it , he must tell u and OK. and not forge the check and cash it so call the IRS no that i think about it, and they checks go out according to the last 2 numbers of your S.S. # so if its 99 your last run of checks

As long as you filed your taxes you will recieve a check. It dosent matter if you filed Head of Household or not. And they have already started sending out check for those who filed direct depost. For those who didn't they start with the last 2 digits of your social.
