If it is passed, I would assume, as they are using the figures from 2007, that you would not be eligible for the extra 300.00 for your child, same as you not being able to claim him on this years tax returns |

Nope. Rebates will be based on the 2007 fiscal year. Your child was born in the 2008 fiscal year. |

Looks like it's based on 2007, so no you wouldn't get it for the child. |

From reading the response listed it looks like there is a lot of incorrect info being listed. Go to http://money.cnn.com/2008/02/08/pf/taxes/rebates_what_you_need_to_know/index.htm?cnn=yes
But to answer your questions it looks like Yes you will get credit for your child in 2008, but not until you file for 2008.
And NO you do not have to pay this back in 2008. This is a rebate without a payback! |

The tax rebate will be based on the income tax you file for the year 2007, which is due in April of this year. Since your child was born in 2008 you will not be able to claim him/her in your income tax for 2007. I would recommend claiming medical bills or health related expenses due to the pregnancy, for example if you paid for health insurance yourself I believe you can deduct this. |

no, the cut off is 2007 |

Not for 2007, if this cut is made for 2008 you will then. |

I don't think so, but not sure. I think for taxes, your child has to be born before January. My son was born December of last year and they were unsure as to if they were supposed to add him for my taxes for 07. Safest thing is to check the tax site in your country. I am in canada and the site here tells us everything we need to know, they offer phone numbers you can call when you have questions too.. |

not im pretty sure you won't get a tax rebate on your child that was just born.. by the way congrats... you probably won't because the child hasn't been with you for a year but more than likey you will next year. |

Amanda

Nope, it is based on the tax year for 2007. If and when we all get our rebates, unfortunately, your little one will not apply. To bad he didn't come early, huh? |
|

No. It is based on your 2007 taxes that your filing. Only the dependents listed on your taxes for 2007. |

No rebate for you. The child would have to be born in 2007.
Also - Congress passed the rebate approximately 2 hours ago and have sent it to the President for his signature. This is a note to the person that keeps telling everyone that no tax rebate has been passed by Congress yet. |

the rebate has not pass yet... but my best guess is no. because you did not claim the child on you 07 taxes. the goverment will probably be basing their rebate on 07 tax form |

12-31 is the cutoff. You will have to wait until next year.
