Will I have to claim my stimulus check as income on my taxes next year and will it affect my rebate.?

Nylorac
No you don't. I got a notice in the mail about it. It says: "You will not be required to report the amount of your stimulus payment as taxable income on your 2008 federal income tax return. If you receive any federal benefits or federally financed benefits, those benefits generally will not be affected by any stimulus payment you receive." Hope this answers your question.

No, if you have read the paperwork regarding your stimulus check that they sent out - it says that you do not claim it as income on your taxes next year.

Steve L
no, you will not have to claim it.

what rebate?

oracleguru
The stimulus check is non-taxable.

NO. It is a stimulus, one time payment to YOU. You do not OWE it back, you did not BORROW it from next yr's taxes..Spend away with a good feeling! :)

It's not taxable next year, and won't affect your refund next year.

Yes. They already count your previous year's tax rebate as income in most states, and it has to be claimed again so you can expect this to be counted too if you're in one of those states.
