Will the irs withold a percentage of stimulus payment for back taxes, or will they keep the entire rebate?
I was told that the irs will only keep a certain percentage of my rebate due to a 2006 tax obligation.

Ms. Angel..
IRS will keep all the stimulus rebate payment, and will take all future refunds. But it is easier to request an installment agreement.
Download Form 9465 Installment agreement request. IRS charges $105 USER FEE you mail in payments or $52.00 for Direct Debit installment agreements(you could qualify for a lesserUSER fee of $43.00) the minumum payment IRS will accept for balances up to $1,499.00 is $25.00; $1.500.00 to $3000.00 is $50.00. Interest and penalties continue to accrue while you have an installment agreement, if you don't request an installment agreement IRS could levy your wages or request your employer to mail in the payements for you thru Payroll Deduction Installment Agreement.

The % is 100% if you owe that much. They'll keep it toward what you owe.

They will take out whatever you owe from any refund you ever get until it is paid in full.

If the back taxes are equal to or more than your stimulus check, unfortunately, you can kiss the hope of getting it goodbye.

Even if one has payment arrangements with the IRS, any refunds or stimulus payments are totally given toward the debt first, and any excess then mailed to the person.

They will keep the entire stimulus rebate amount.
Dependents will not get the rebate. Your parents will not get For information on stimulus tax rebate read: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/are-you-eligible.html

Don't use that source any more. Totally wrong. All will be withheld until your old debt is satisfied in full.
