♥.TTC.♥ | Would I need to pay council tax? |
Me and my boyfriend are moving into together .. Im a degree student and my bf is in full time work. Now because Im a student would we need to pay council tax? Whats the system for student? |

I don't know if things are the same anymore, but if you are a FULL TIME student and you live with someone who is working, you will be jointly liable for 75% of the bill. So you get justa 25% discount.
However, if you moved in with other FULL TIME students, your names still all go down on the bill, but there is an exemption on the charge. In order to get this exemption, you each had to get a standard letter from your respective universities confirming that you are a full time student.
So basically, moving in with boyfriend will incur a charge. How you choose to pay this (i.e. if boyfriend is happy to pay most or all of it) is down to you, but if its not paid, they will come after BOTH of you for the money. |

i think you don,t need to pay the whole council tax you will get some discount because you are a student but apart of that you need to show a latter from your college showing that you are a full time student |

u wont have to pay council tax but yr b/f will. he should get a 25% discount tho for being the only adult eligible for council tax in the house. |

it wouldnt be based on you, it would be based on your bf income whether you would get it or not |

you would need to pay council tax due to full time worker but maybe able to get reduction if on low pay |

The council tax is based on the value of the property.
It would be then means tested to find out whether or not you would be eligible for council tax benefit.
So both your incomes would be taken into consideration. |

I think you do because he's working full-time and you'll be living under the same roof. |

If you are the householders you need to pay I'm afraid. How much depends on your combined income and you may be eligible for council tax relief / benefits |

yup you have to pay the full rate! and cos you are in a relationship he will have to start paying 100% (if he's currently on 75% which i guess he is) |
