valerj83 | Would be possible for me to ask back the taxes I've been paying here in the UK once I leave the job? |
Who should I ask then? My company or the tax office of the city where I am living? What is the exact name of the office? And since I am leaving at the end of July when should I begin ask the money back? |

The UK tax year goes from 6th April to 5th April. You don't say what you will be doing when you leave the job. If you will be working elsewhere in the UK, you should pass on to new employer the form P45 that current employer will give you when you leave the job, so that PAYE continues on cumulative basis.
If you are going abroad, you should complete form P85 (download from hmrc/p85), and send it to current employer's tax office with form P45. Reference will be on form P45. Payroll can tell you tax office name and address. You can't ask for money back until you leave job, and get form P45. |

Only if you've earned under the minimum amount this year, about £5500. Your company will know your tax office and you should ask them for the address and phone number, it won't necessarily be very close to where you live. I imagine you'll have to wait until the end of the next tax year to get it back but you'd be best to ring the office and ask. |

In short, no, you can't ask for it back, it's a tax, and everyone who works pays for it. If you could ask for it back no one would stay in a job longer than 6 months! |

I believe you can,I did, but the system is very complicated and changes all the time.
But here is a way to find out for sure, take all your details to your local UK Inland revenue office, the address will be in your local phone book.
Just walk in , ask at reception to speak to an advisor, then ask your questions.
The reason I believe you can is because I did!
At the time of my application I had paid around £3000 tax that particular tax year, I got it all back.
I had been paying tax all my life , I am a UK citizen, I should say UK subject we dont have citizens in the UK!!
I explained I was going to work in other parts of the world.
You are perhaps not a UK subject?? Which makes the question more complicated, but certainly worth checking out with your local Inland revenue office, it will cost you nothing to find out.
Things have changed a lot over the passed few years in these offices, they now have to treat us all as humans and not as cattle, go for it, give it a try, and good luck. |

You may have overpaid some tax if you will leave part way through the tax year.
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cnr/p85.pdf
Download a P85 from the HMRC website and send it with parts 2&3 of the P45 to the tax office which dealt with your last UK employer. Your employer can tell you or look it up at
