majority of poor people are poor because of using drugs, I think it would just wipe them out completely

No. The more money government takes in, the more money they spend. This would not relieve the tax burden on the poor because it is mostly poor people who buy this product. You add a sales tax onto an already heavy tax burden.

Sounds good to me. Tax the crap out of it

The problem is not how much we take in each year in taxes, it's how we use that money. We have plenty of money, how else do we seem to just produce billions for the war in Iraq.
Legalizing, regulating, and taxing marijuana (and prositution) are excellent ideas but it doesn't necessarily mean that you or I will ever see any benefit whatsoever from that extra revenue.

Probably not. It would mysteriously help those who legalize it don't you think? It's a hot potato we probably won't see change for many years.
I believe legalizing & taxing marijauna is good idea. Many people would enjoy using it, many obstain now due to it's illeagel statis.
People who need it for it's medicianal purposes suffer while congress worries about the problems legalizing Marijuana could cause for their carrears.
Sorry for the Rant! Pandora

Well most of the price in Marijuana is becose it's iligal.
Studies in this have shown that the price of it would be EXSTREAMLY low if it was legal to grow in the US. This would give room for the US to give hefty federal taxes and the price still come out about in lines with a box of cigeretts or a little more (maybe 5 bucks a box).
Even if the plant is grown using the methods G. Washington though up to make the plant produce mostly buds instead of leaves, it would still produce a lot of hemp that could be sold aswell making it an very proffetable crop.
With the massive number echonomical uses for hemp, and a need for the bud to be grown for legalized sell..... It could posably even put a dent in those growing the tabacco crop. If we are lucky could even put a hurt in the tabacoo companies themselves.

I think legalizing and taxing marijuana will create so much money for the even the government won't know what to do with it all. Not only are they getting money outright but, save money in prosecuting all the dumb punks caught with a dime bag. Think about it, it's the answer to so many problems.
