Let's look at this logically.
To do anything it costs money. Police cost money, firefighting costs money, libraries cost money. Money must be raised by government agencies to do anything.
Community colleges are run by government agencies and they do cost money.
Ask yourself the question: Where is the money going to come from if there is no tuition?
The answer is clear: from taxpayers.
By the Way, tuition fees generally do not cover much of the expense of running a community college system, most already comes from taxpayers. |

In order for something like this to happen one or more likely a combination of the following four must happen:
1: Someone(s) donates enough money to make things free
2: Another program gets cut
3: Increase in taxes.
4: Cuts in budgets at said school to make it less costly to run. |

I'm voting fro Pat McCrory cuz I wouldn't want to waste my tax money on something I won't use. I am not gonna be going to Community College anytime. I don't have kids or teens either. |

Somebody has to pay for it. Taxpayers are already paying part of the cost - if students don't pay tuition, then the taxpayers pick up that part too. That doesn't make it good or bad, but does mean it comes from tax money, so either something else is cut or taxes increase. |

Unless those community college have so much money that they can sustain on outside sources and donations, then yes. |

probably yes and no. Like, if we didn't spend all the 1 trillion dollar on Iraq, we could have used that money for something else, like education. So, as long as a lot of our money is being put to waste, making community college free would mean more tax for us. If all our original taxes are put into good use, then most likely no. |

There will be additional taxes or existing government services will be cut back to free the required funds to pay for the CC costs. |

Yes and No. The state is using every excuse it can to tax as much as it can out of the citizens that are "rich." The 10% of people that have money are paying 90% of the taxes. So, the answer is yes, if McCrory becomes mayor, he will say he is trying to make it "fair" for all citizens. In order for that to happen, he will raise taxes in the richer areas in order to pay for the poorer areas. |
