You have such a way with words. I take it you are referring to the unemployed who don't want to work if so I would make them scrape the chewing gum of the streets. Gum, I hate to see it on the pavements. |

If you have WORKED and paid your NI contributions, you should get your benefit according to contributions paid, without a need to work for your benefit..... If you have never worked, you should do 40 hours community work per week for your benefits (One week of this and they will look for a better paid Job pretty dam quick) But the work done should be supervised by your local council with a view to reduce council tax for those that have to work hard to pay it!!!!! Oh well....just my opinion. |

i would like to add that all these dickheads that are going around stabbing people i think that as they seem to like killing they should put them in the army and send afghanistan or iraq maybe they would think twice about carrying knives around in their pockets. |

i think that the unemployed should be rather given a nice fertile bit of land on which they build their own village ,live a live dictated by the seasons ,make their own laws and be happy ever after .[eople need incentives an not punishment. workhouses are 2nd to concentration camps if you must know |

Not workhouses, but chain gangs (nice chain gangs)
Cutting grass for old people, cleaning graffiti away from tower blocks, weeding the pavements, pruning back public bushes, watering hanging baskets, painting and tidying derelict wasteland, etc, etc..
If your gonna pay them £60 a week to do nothing, they might as well do something.

Who would pay them? They're already being paid aren't they?? It's called Jobseekers.
As far as i'm aware councils don't employ people to make public spaces look nice - all they have is roadsweepers who sweep the roads. I've never seen council staff clear old wasteland and dig out weeds from the pavements. - So these are new jobs which would be catered for by giving the unemployed something to do. |
