Grace11 | Any advise - I'm swimming in confusion |
I signed a 6 month lease under the impression that the owner was trying to modify his loan and he told me that it would take at least 6 to 9 months before he would know if he has to sell the property. He reassured me that he was being honest and was not planning on walking away from the property. I gave him a large deposit and my first months rent. 30 days later there is a notice of Trustee sale on my door and the owner tells me he's filing for BK then I get a call from an agent telling me I will have to show the property. The trustee sale is set for Aug 31st and is still up for auction - I was told that once he puts the home up for short sale the auction is stopped - is this true? Also, like an idoit I showed the place to over 50 agents/people without a lockbox or agreement with the listing agent. I'm now missing a new bottle of Lattees and a prescription of pain meds. My rent is due on Sept 6th and I want to know when can I stop paying rent to this piece of s*&^ owner another dime. he admitted he will have to borrow the money to pay me back my deposit - he's been taking my money and using it to bankroll his montly income - what a jerk. I am a single mother who is unemployed. I just moved my hometown of 40 years and I explained my situation and this idoit just proved to me that there are horrible people who don't give a rats toosh about anyone but themselves.
Oh and I just heard from an agent who was showing the property that the listing agent has an offer - what does that mean to me? Do I have to pay this dirtbag rent if someone has put in an offer??
Please - anyone with experience or good advice - tell me what I should do? I have a daughter and no job I just would like some infor that is not so confusing or that will land me in jail. I feel like such an idiot to trust this person with the amount of money, but when your looking to rent a place the owner gets to know all abo ut your finances, but you know nothing about theirs. What a shame. Thanks for any advice
